Hello everyone! I am aware that contests are fun and get you guys involved on the forum, so I decided to make a thread where you can suggest what you would like to see in a contest. Now, that doesn't mean your contest suggestion will be an official contest, but it will definitely be taken into consideration. Just avoid any suggestions that are foolish. In other words, try to make it creative or something that would get a lot of attention. If it involves something that you would like to keep just between the Contest Designers, then by all means PM us rather than say it here. Now, suggest away! :)
 
How about a monthly contest of matching a certain category (such as Mario Kart, Legend of Zelda, famous actors, etc.), and the contest designers make an unbiased decision on which answer is the most creative or fits the category the best. The winner for the month receives a set money prize! I'm not too sure what the prize should be, so idk.

I read this a week ago and I'm pretty sure I understood it, but now with me being braindead, I'm a tad confused. How exactly would it work per say?

I'm not exactly sure about that, but maybe we can open a thread that's supposed to be a raffle and everyone has to post in that thread before a specific date. When the date comes, we just put all the names into a random generator and the name that comes out is the winner of the prize! Seem alright?

If you have ever played Apples to Apples or Cards Against Humanity, it's pretty similar to that. Every month, a category is given, and the players come up with the most creative/best answer, and at the end of the month, the single winner of that month will receive a prize (such as 4DR Forum Money, a badge, etc.) I am currently going to suggest the prize be around 250-500 bucks, but the actual prize given is entirely up to you. There can be 2 winners as well if it becomes popular enough.

I have played Apples to Apples before, but that was a long time ago so I forget how to play. Regardless, I'm still rather confused. Let's say the category was Mario Kart Wii, can you give us an example of a really good, decent, and bad entry? I think that will explain it better. And just to be sure, answers should be submitted privately (like 99%) of other contests?

A really good entry would be entirely up to the judges/contest staff what they think would be best, it could be something that fits really well such as Funky Kong or Wiimmfi, or it could be a really creative answer. A really bad entry would be something completely unrelated to Mario Kart, such as "Alarm Clock" or "My Bathroom" because it would be really hard to fit either of those to Mario Kart (unless they had a MKW themed bathroom for some reason...) As you said, it would be a good idea to have the answers submitted via PM. That way, other players can't directly copy another person's answer. In the event a particular answer was already submitted, you could (not saying you have to) PM the person who made the duplicate answer that the answer was already submitted and must try again. Or, you could just have all the people who submitted the same answer win if that answer is in fact the winning one. If that is the case, then make them submit answers privately to avoid purposely copying one's answer.
 
Maybe we can have a prize, something that's not forum money, and whoever is willing to pay the most money for it gets the prize

My concern is that this isn't a huge Mario Kart forum, so people turning up to a "tournament" would be limited.
 
Actually, I think ghost has a good idea! We can make a 4DR tournament where whoever has the most points will be awarded!
 
I don't doubt that it's a good idea, but there's a very low possibility of this working out due to lack of attendance.
 
I have an idea for a contest! Basically how we do it is...

1. Contest Designers pick 5 totally random custom tracks from ctgp-r v3.1
2. They announce the custom tracks that were chosen, and specify any glitches that aren't/are allowed
3. Everyone TTs all 5 tracks as many times as they want in the 1-week-period of the contest.
4. The contestants must have picture proof of their best time from each of the 5 tracks
5. They add up the times
6. Whoever has the lowest overall time wins 5,000 swag bucks!

Is this a good idea? @Tim @Zachy @Justin

So ... did the contest designers that allready or not yet cause i never found a thread ...and if not pls its a good idea and it would be very cool !
