Heyho,
it's me with another thread after two decades again - this time with a completely unfamiliar topic.

So there's this game series I have been playing for a long while now and I would like to further discuss about that in this thread.

Some days ago the latest game, F1 2024, has been released and apart from some nice graphics enhancements it only got downgrades and is still some overpriced heap of crap. Well, that's what you get when EA takes over a game.

Have you ever heard or seen these games before and if yes, do you also enjoy playing F1?

Also have a clip of some of my sessions from the previous games, I'll try to find some more in the next days.

I've not seen or heard, but I am curious, is this considered a game or a simulator? (or I guess, a hybrid)

Maybe it might be silly to ask how realistic it feels if... one hasn't experienced the real thing, but how it's designed and labeled perhaps is a clue.

The game is designed to replicate the current season of the real-life counterpart, with all it's drivers, teams and championship venues.
It's handles more like a "Simcade" (as you guessed, it's hybrid): While it has the weight, traction and handling of the real thing, it still has the handful of driver aids, has lots but limited setup options and can be played easily with an usual gamepad.

If you want a more realistic experience with a wheel try Assetto Corsa, get a few paid F1 mods and start suffering. If you're interested in getting F1, I would recommend F1 2023, as the latest game (F1 2024) still needs to iron things out and F1 2022 was hot garbage in every department - F1 2023 also has a story mode (yeah, that exists).
I cannot recommend my favourite game F1 2020, because it is not available on Steam anymore (only expensive keys afaik).

This looks fun! And I’m pretty sure I know the answer to this but just to clarify, this is not a mobile game and is a PC/computer only game?

Platforms: PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X and Series S, Xbox One, Microsoft Windows, Steam (steam is just not windows exclusive, right?)

steam is just not windows exclusive, right?)
Can confirm as a Mac user that Steam itself is not exclusive to Windows BUT certain games only support or are only supported for certain operating systems/Windows.

Can also say as a Mac user that I totally get that lol. Macs are simply not good to game on periodt. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Ouch. I hope there are not a ton of titles in that category.

Planet Coaster was a title for a while on Steam that was only available on windows for the longest time. :( Then it became available on Mac, but the performance and controls were garbage lol

There's an officially licensed F1 game for mobile devices, but it's mediocre at best - Roblox even has a better version which could be played on the mobile app.

Steam does also mean it's playable on Steam OS devices, like the Steam Deck. F1 2020 ran fine with normal settings on the 512 GB LCD version.

Can't really relate as my one and only Mac, a Power Mac G4 (QuickSilver, 2002) only exists as a sleeper case for my Wii U and the Switch.
I often played with the thoughts of making a Hackintosh some day, but the gaming restrictions are one of the (smaller) reasons why it never happened.
