On DK Summit/DK Snowboard's Cross, there's a section of track (you skip it if you try and take the double shortcut, but you don't if you take the single shortcut like most people) right after the single shortcut where the zipper begins, but there's normal track. No, I'm not referring about the end where there's snow in the middle of the track (and bullets conveniently tend to drop you off right in the middle of those snow patches) and zippers on the side, but close to it. I'm talking about where the zipper originally begins. Some people just stay on the normal track, go on the boost pad, and then obviously have to ride the zipper to avoid the snow patches. But some people begin to ride the zipper as soon as it begins (which is what I do). Do you guys think either way is more beneficial? One of them is probably faster than the other, but I don't TT, so I don't really care and I really wouldn't know. Hopefully I explained it well enough, but if I din't, please let me know and I can try and explain it better to you.

Well since the path before the boost panel is much tighter than the zipper, I think the zipper is less useful the tighter you go into the turn.

Using that part of the zipper is quicker if do it right. Even though it's curving, you still have to treat it like you would if it was going straight. Barely go on it, and immediately go on it again. I'm sure you know what I'm talking about. Like how people treat the WGM zipper. Just go on it like that and it's actually quicker.

I don't do either. I stay on the normal track and I'm unable to perform the double shortcut.

It obviously isn't used in high level time trials, so it's slower ofc

That's how I usually do it. Good to know.

Hmm, maybe they just don't think about it? If you do it the way Zekrom is saying it should be done, I don't see how it could possibly be slower.

I usually do the double, so I don't go on that zipper that much intill the double shortcut ends.

Mehh, it doesn't matter to me. I just pick a direction that I feel like taking

I just go tight around the edge.

Depends on if you do it right. Also depends on your play style. It isn't really beneficial in competitive play, but if someone screws up below the zipper, you have a big chance of taking the lead if you take the zipper.

In my opinion can be beneficial and can't be beneficial. Depend how well you perform it. :)

Yes, I agree. After seeing all the replies, it seems that the answer is within the execution.
