Looking for Contest Designers

Greetings everyone!

We are here to announce that we are looking for new Contest Designers. The exact number isn’t really known, but we are attempting to replace everyone that is currently a Contest Designer. Here are the requirements that you must possess if you’re looking to apply:

• You must be creative. Contest Designers are always creating new contests. To keep things fresh, there always needs to be a different kind of contest instead of repeating the same type of contest over and over again.
• You must be able to work with other people. The Contest Designers are a team. You guys will all be working together to come up with ideas all the time. No one’s ideas are more important than anyone else’s. You must know how to work as a team, as there will surely be disagreements and conflicts at times.
• You must be active. We are only looking for the most active people on the forum to be Contest Designers to ensure that contests are a regular thing.
• You need to be motivated! This is the first set of applications ever where we are really putting an emphasize on motivation. We are looking for people who breathe contests. We want people who have their first priority on the forum be that contests are frequent and fun for everyone.

If you meet all those requirements, then we'd love to see you apply! If you pretend to meet the requirements and fail to meet them later, you will be removed from being a Contest Designer and will not ever be allowed to be one in the future.

How to apply?

Make a thread in the "Contest Designer Applications" section in The Voting Booth: Contest Designer Applications You can include anything in your application and make it as simple or as complex as you want, but two things that MUST be in your application are the following:

• A contest idea. If you were the only Contest Designer, what would be an idea of yours that you would make as a contest?
• How would you deal with conflict? For example, if you wanted to do a certain contest your way, but another Contest Designer wanted to do it their way, how would you resolve that?

It is worth noting that once you submit your application, you will be unable to view or edit it again (this is because we comment our thoughts on your application thread), so please make sure you've included everything before submitting. If you believe you forgot something or need to correct something in your application, you can make another thread and let us know about that. Applications will close in a week from now on August 21st, and we will take a few days after that to discuss and make our selections. Thanks and good luck to everyone applying!

Cool, thanks! We think that it's time to switch it up a bit and have some new faces be Contest Designers rather than having a majority of the team be staff (which was not intentional).

Yes, that's correct. For example, if there's ever a scavenger hunt-like contest, Contest Designers cannot participate in that because they have the answers. However, if there were a knockout tournament or something similar, Contest Designers would be able to participate in that because there's nothing that gives them an advantage over everyone else. There's no "answers" for a knockout tournament.

I don't know, I haven't really beentaking part in contests lately, mostly because I no longer play MKW. Also I don't think I completely fit in with the requirements.

As long as you meet the requirements, I don't think you will find it to be particularly hard. And there's really no answer to your second question as there's no specific rule of thumb there, but when/if you become a Contest Designer, you will receive guidelines with all that kind of information.
