Hello everyone!

I am here to announce a new feature called the User Title Ladder. I saw some people bringing it up, and yes, it is the item that is displaying under people's name. It's just supposed to be something fun that indicates how many posts you have based on the Mario Kart Wii item system. Personally, I think it's much better than just displaying what your rank is. I think we all know what the various name colors mean by now, and there are still rank ribbons/badges if that's unclear for some people. So essentially, you just move up the item ladder as you get more posts. The elephant in the room of course is how many posts are required in order to get the next item on the ladder. And you can find all of that information here: User Title Ladder As explained there, I know that some of the items at the top of the ladder seem so impossible and unachievable. And maybe they are, but they don't have to be as the forum grows. But really, the main reason that they're so high is because I don't want to make the highest number of posts on the user title ladder some decently achievable number and have people say "oh I made it to the top of the ladder so I'm done". That is just so lame and gives people a reason to stop. With such a high number for the top of the User Title Ladder, no one is ever "done". There's always something to achieve. So hopefully that explains my reasoning there and hopefully it is understandable. Anyway, that's all there really is to explain for now. I hope you guys enjoy and please let me know if there is any questions! :)

it should cap at 150k

have you guys ever heard of roblox? they have a forum on their site, and over 100 million users. the user with the most posts on there has 125k.

I like this idea but the post amount is just insane o_O
That's the point. :D

I've heard of Roblox. Never checked out their forum. Sounds like lowering it wouldn't do any justice anyway since it would still seem "hard" or "unachievable" to get to the top, which is why I think people are scared/dislike the high amount of posts needed to get to the top.

Ooooh so, you think people will reach over 3 million posts in 30+ years later? :hippo:

That's the point. ;)

You shouldn't set the standard impossibly high... That's like saying
"I'll give you $1,000 if you can get a sub 1 minute time on LC"

It's literally not possible.

The bar is set high only because it's no fun when you have nothing to reach for or achieve. If you achieve everything, then what's left? Just really boring. Making the highest title on the ladder seem "unachievable" makes things only that much more interesting. We could lower everything significantly and make the highest like 50k posts, but people on the lower end of the ladder will complain that 50k is too high as well. There would always be a reason to complain.

There's a difference between something that takes time and something that is literally not possible.

You want to know why I suspect people are concerned about the number of posts at the top of the user title ladder? They want to reach it. They want a number where it is possible for them to reach and achieve it. If they didn't want to reach the top, why else would they care what the top ladder message count is? That's why I prefer keeping it very high.

Admittedly though, I'm sure we will decrease that number over time, but it's not going to dramatically decrease, so that's why I'm trying to explain my reasoning for keeping it high.

*sigh*

Was that not the purpose of this update?

The purpose of this was to increase activity. If you get to the top of the ladder, most people would just stop there because there's nothing else to achieve. That's why the number is so high. It's so hard to get there that you have to keep going.

Let's say I post 500 times a day. That number is absolutely ludicrous, but I'll just go with it.

If I managed to consistently post that much, it would take me 16 years to get 3,000,000 posts.

I'm not saying you should cap it at like 1,000 or something... Just make it possible, please?
