Basically when a team is losing in any of the modes in Ranked Battle, their special gauge gradually increases when they are alive (I'm not sure if in Rainmaker, you still gain special buildup when the other team holds the rainmaker and are losing, but I believe you still do gain it unless that was taken away in an update). Essentially speaking, you can build up your special in 10-25 seconds after dying in addition to turfing to fill up the gauge even quicker. I personally love that this mechanic exists. Why? When a team is losing, it can be hard for them to reenter. Usage of special weapons can help a team push back the other team while they regain control and the objective. Without this gradual increase when losing, I personally think it would be very hard for a team to regain control. The amount of special weapons used by the losing team would greatly decrease, thus decreasing the likelihood of team pushes and successful take-backs.
