What statistic do you think is most important in races?

What statistic do you guys think is most important when racing? And I mean racing specifically, not time trials. I think that time trials is less of a debate because you're not really dodging items, and speed is the most important thing. So it's not really much of a debate for time trials. But in terms of regular racing, I think that it's much more of a debate. I guess the way to best ask this question is if you could have only one statistic in the game, what would it be? For me, it would be handling. You can have as much speed as you want, but if you can't control that speed, it's pretty worthless because you'll be crashing all over the place.

Offroading. There are plenty of people that abuse that stat throughout WWs, by either using the Magikruser, Dolphin Dasher, etc., especially since N64 MR is such a common track these days.

Speed and miniturbo.

Funky's speed is so high that his low miniturbo doesn't really matter, though.

I 100% agree. I think that the game is nearly all luck. But I'm just curious to hear what you think is the most important characteristic, hypothetically speaking. Most of the topics I make up are hypothetical, not realistic. Although, clearly a majority of the MKW Community doesn't agree since it's more Funky Kong Wii than Mario Kart Wii.
